The Inland Empire is a beautiful metropolitan area of Southern California. It includes Riverside county and San Bernardino county. Over 4 million people live here and it is the 13th most populous area in the United States. This metropolitan area is known for its agriculture, citrus, dairy and wine making.
They take pride in this by hosting an annual Citrus Harvest Festival featuring live music, games, car shows and simply celebrating the harvest. Also continuing to grow is their residential, industrial and commercial development. Housing prices are incredibly affordable compared to Los Angeles and Orange county.
It is being said that this region is positioned to shortly regain it’s position as the leader of California’s new home production. Currently the region is home to some 4.2 million residents. As far as climate goes, there is very little moisture. The driest parts of the year are the summer and fall. Temperatures in the summer range from 95-105 degrees.
Glen Ivy Hot Springs is a popular wellness establishment in the outskirts of Corona, CA. It was built around a natural mineral hot spring. Less than 60 miles north of San Diego you will find Temecula Valley Wine Country. This area is located in and around the Rancho California Road areas within the county of Riverside. It boasts views reaching to 11,000 foot high mountains and beautiful vineyards. If you are a wine enthusiast this area is definitely for you. It is a major tourist destination especially on the weekends. A lot of people come here for weddings and live music performances. You can even take a vineyard tour or ride in a hot air balloon.
Lake Arrowhead is a lake located in the mountains. This is a hugely popular place to visit in the summertime however, you can visit it any season of the year. Lake Arrowhead is also known as “The Alps of Southern California.” The activities here are limitless. You can rent a Lake Arrowhead Queen Paddleboat or rent a bicycle to go mountain biking. They also have a private yacht club, a four screen movie theater and an 18-hole golf course.
Big Bear is also a lake located in the mountains however, unlike Lake Arrowhead it is more popular in the winter. Locals as well as out of towners come here to snowboard and ski. The city is located northeast of the city of San Bernardino. There are two resorts, the first Snow Summit which is the biggest in Southern California. The second is Bear Mountain which is more popular to the snowboarding crowd. The weather at Big Bear Lake is perfect all year round. Many come here to fish, golf, hike or ski. Big Bear Lake is known for it’s upscale atmosphere. Many celebrities have visited the resorts and the movie Last of the Mohicans was filmed here.
The climate of this part of California is hot and dry. Its topography is such that it is worth going sight seeing and following the trails upwards to enjoy the general outlook of the landscape. There are a few of them, mountain ranges, and valleys. These include Mojave, sonorant, Colorado, lower Colorado River Valley and the Great Basin. Those consisted of the Valleys themselves include: palm springs and Owens Valleys, Deep Springs and Eureka, Saline and Death, Panamint and Indian Wells, Fremont and Antelope, Victor and Lucerne, Llanfair and Coachella, Imperial and Lower Colorado River Valley. These areas have an enriched natural history and a culture that dates back to the early years. There are parks, nature preserves, and wilderness. They have recreation centers, great sceneries and wildlife and nature reserves.
These areas are a true representation of the beauty of the environment and motivation to protect the flora and fauna and to preserve it as it is without altercations. They are a habitat for many different species of animals and varying types of plants that dwell under such climatic conditions. They also hold a historical attachment about the old west. This makes them a popular tourist destination with certain activities like sightseeing, bird watching, and hiking among many others.
The main ones are Mojave, Colorado and the Great Basin. The Mojave itself borders the Tehachapi Mountains, San Gabriel, and San Bernardino and it is extended further into Arizona while also sharing a boundary with Nevada. The Colorado is well located between the Transverse Ranges and the Colorado River. The Great Basin extends into Nevada and is close to the Sierra Nevada cordillera.
